At the Kaiten Sushi Restaurant with a Turbo Twin Famicom

I found a cheap Turbo Twin Famicom at Omocha Souko today. As luck would have it the only reason I was at Omocha Souko today was that my wife and I were going to a local sushi place for dinner but arrived too early so we needed to kill a few minutes. The restaurant is right up the block from Omocha Souko so I suggested we spend a couple minutes browsing there.

Of course, when I found the Twin Fami they had just put out I had to have it, so we ended up lugging it to dinner with us.
And I just decided to take a few photos of it there because....hey, its not every day that you have a Twin Famicom at a sushi restaurant so why not make the best of a good opportunity?

It is a pretty cool restaurant. You order stuff from these video screens at the table and your food comes on these bullet trains right to you:
You aren`t actually allowed to take pictures in the place so I had to take these somewhat surreptitiously. Unfortunately that meant I couldn`t get many interesting angles or anything. I did make sure to get a shot with some sushi (actually beef) on the Twin Famicom though:
You don`t see that every day now do you?

  1. That's too funny! What's your favorite type of sushi?

  2. Thanks! I love salmon, though my wife is always teasing me because my favorite dish is the ham, which isn`t actual sushi.

  3. Haha, nice one! :) That bullet train is the greatest thing ever! Even if I didn't like sushi, I would still go there just to have my food delivered by that! :) I do quite like sushi though (but not as much as my wife) and we're lucky enough to have a few nice Japanese restaurants nearby. I can't say I've taken my Master System to any of them though, my wife wouldn't be best pleased to see that :P

  4. Ha! You are too funny :) I love that bullet train, by the way. What a cool way to receive your sushi. There's a place near us that sends little covered platefuls of sushi around on on conveyor belt -- one of my favorite places to go for dinner :)

  5. Simon - thanks! The bullet train is the real drawing card of this place, I love watching it slide down the rails! My wife wasn`t too pleased with me hauling the Twin Famicom out in the middle of the restaurant, I don`t think I`ll be able to get away with that twice;)

Bryan - thanks! It is cool, isnt it? The conveyor belt ones (kaitenzushi) are pretty cool, in fact this store has those too, they run underneath the bullet train tracks!

  6. Haha your wife sure has understanding for you! Your photo shootings are unique! And beautiful! I have also tried a couple of times to bring some retro-gaming stuff "outside" to do photos, but I was a bit ashamed of doing it. I guess in Japan it's not so hard to live it through, I live in a country where people have little understanding for "different" stuff.
It makes me happy every time you do such a thing! And this restaurant place? Awesome!!!

  7. Thanks, JPx72! I`m a little embarassed to do these photo shoots too, the only reason I could do this one was because there weren`t too many people in the restaurant!!

  8. So... does the Disk System part of the unit work? This is the real question here.
