That is a bummer about the 3 games too, I used to sell Famicom games and found that on average about 95% of them still work. That must have been just bad luck or a bad seller, hope you get some working ones though!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-17722578120861194322013-06-10T12:54:32.343+09:002013-06-10T12:54:32.343+09:00I think these are good arguments, but I can think ...I think these are good arguments, but I can think of one reason suggesting that emulators are better: Emulators won't break down. My Virtual Boy has screwed itself up so many times it's not even funny. Also, I finally went out and bought a Famicom! Aand the 3 games I bought for it are all broken. Again, this is why people use emulators, dude. I still prefer the real thing though. Keep collecting!Loganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14857399341857977708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-23347035859596621982011-04-21T09:12:34.702+09:002011-04-21T09:12:34.702+09:00Simon,

At some point, the benefits of emulators (fast, easy, etc) tip heavily in their favor versus the console!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-14501900116471687842011-04-20T22:08:48.174+09:002011-04-20T22:08:48.174+09:00Superb post Sean, a great read with nice photos as...Superb post Sean, a great read with nice photos as usual! :) I agree with nearly all your points but as a reviewer I need to play most of the games I play via emulators. I prefer to do the real thing but playing the games for my own blog leaves me with practically no time to do so :(RetroKingSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05609689348601442117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-74416448965271123632011-04-20T09:00:13.047+09:002011-04-20T09:00:13.047+09:00Thanks Skyrunner14! I'll admit to using emulators for games that never got released in the US, if only to use a translation so I can understand it, but otherwise I'm gonna want an actual cartridge. I also agree that the thrill of the hunt is one heck of a thrill... though I may be saying that because I'm so gosh darned lucky. Things I have found at garage sales include, but are not limited to, A Bandai Power Pad for my NES, a box full of old Nintendo Power magazines, including the very first issue in rather nice condition, a $5 PS2, a $5 Dreamcast... I'm like a magnet for awesome video game stuff when I go to garage sales~skyrunner14https://www.blogger.com/profile/01229439263777499255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-38079009205769690412011-04-18T10:51:24.993+09:002011-04-18T10:51:24.993+09:00Thanks David.

Playing games via emulation lacks so many of the things that actually make playing games fun! Now, I'll do it when there's absolutely no other way, but if given the chance I'll take the real system, real cartridge (or CD/DVD) and controller any day.

BTW, your quest for a copy of Antarctic Adventure reminds me of my own current quest: To find a complete-in-box copy of Balloon Fight. Sadly, I have to use eBay and online stores, as there aren't any import stores nearby (actually, there's one, but it's quite a bus ride from where I live -- maybe someday), but still. Once a week at least I trudge to the usual (online) places and see if such a copy exists. Eventually I'll find it, and when I do I'll be on top of the world! :)Bryan Ochallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16256591698209804728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-63118730207263702352011-04-14T20:14:06.526+09:002011-04-14T20:14:06.526+09:00Interesting! It's an even bigger rush when you find something you need. I don't play games on my PC. And there are games I haven't played in years, and I won't play them until either I have the game in my collection or someone I know lets me borrow it or brings it over. I collect toys, and the same applies to that(not the online stuff, the thrill of the hunt), it's fun and could be worthwhile.

Looks like you're on a roll this week, keep up the good work! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
