Heated seats on a toilet are a must in Japan - the bathrooms are otherwise completely unheated.

Think you are right about the game and watches too. Most people probably wouldn't even notice that they aren't functioning games and just buy them up.Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-46747484818225247752011-06-20T21:57:08.295+09:002011-06-20T21:57:08.295+09:00Haha, nice post! :) I'm impressed to hear the ...Haha, nice post! :) I'm impressed to hear the toilet has heated seats! You're right about the G&W's too. I guess they're just relying on fans buying snapping them up just to put in their collections...RetroKingSimonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05609689348601442117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-89646212433323852082011-06-15T17:38:19.711+09:002011-06-15T17:38:19.711+09:00Thanks for the nice comment, Nicole! There are two VVs in my area and only one of them has Famicom stuff, just a few games for 500 yen each that they sell next to their famiclones.

They do have a lot of randome, brightly colored American stuff. Very cool shop IMHO, although a bit pricey at times.Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-19730846027289245072011-06-09T11:40:36.182+09:002011-06-09T11:40:36.182+09:00Ah yes, Village Vanguard. And I've been to a few both around Tokyo and elsewhere. Regardless it's still a fun store.

Plus, VV is associated with the "American Diner" or whatever it's called. I'm not sure how common they are, but they have (at least one) in Tokyo. It's a restaurant that sells giant, delicious burgers. I think VV is involved because they sell a bunch of imported beer there. From random places too, they had the Israeli "Maccabee" beer, which was the first time I've seen it anywhere outside of Israel. If you ever come across one, it's really good. Plus, the decor is decked out in "THIS IS WHAT AMERICA LOOKS LIKE TO JAPAN" stuff. Lots of old signs of Soda Logos and Texaco and stuff.

Man, I miss Japan. :(Natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08121556443188603610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-75843277246205683902011-06-09T08:23:00.063+09:002011-06-09T08:23:00.063+09:00Yes, Tokyu Hands is another good one!

Urban Outfitters is a clothing store that just happens to sell some other stuff. Loft doesn't really have any specific thing it sells. As Sean said, it's a department store without all the regular department store snobbery.

I love Loft (and similar stores like Tokyu Hands). The stuff they have is always really fun to see. In addition to useless stuff, they often sell the "1-800" type stuff, so I always enjoy it.

Have you mentioned the infamous Don Quixote stores on here?Natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08121556443188603610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-20443038286906942942011-06-09T00:55:37.871+09:002011-06-09T00:55:37.871+09:00It certainly sounds similar. I went there all the time while I was in college. Not to buy their clothes, just to snoop around :)Bryan Ochallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16256591698209804728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-84717781516431207912011-06-08T13:18:08.465+09:002011-06-08T13:18:08.465+09:00It is too bad isn't it?

Really its only the novelty item floor that is wacky in the loft, the other floors have some wacky stuff but mostly its "trendy" things. Actually I quite like shopping there, especially for gifts!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892786114932769023.post-71844928573926468222011-06-08T12:57:41.090+09:002011-06-08T12:57:41.090+09:00That *is* too bad about the G&W key chains. Of course, if by doing that they keep people from buying the things, they likely make a lot less in the end than they would have otherwise.

BTW, this store sounds a lot like Urban Outfitters in the US. Do they have those in Canada -- or Japan? Sounds like Loft may be a bit wackier, though...Bryan Ochallahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16256591698209804728noreply@blogger.com
